Trapped with the kids and breastfeeding banned on face book

Roll on the new school term.
I’ve come to the conclusion I just can’t get anything done on the anthropology blog while they are home. Stuff like this doesn’t require any concentration, which is just as well as I’m getting dragged out of my seat every three minutes to sort out the X-box or fetch cheese [...]

Always ill on Christmas day.

Posted on December 27, 2008. Filed under: diary entry | Tags: |

Every single year since the kids arrived. This year I had an evil cold, but I’ve had a stomach bug and flu on Christmas day before. I think the day is cursed. I’m still ill.. my teeth all ache. Aarggh.
Other than that it went fine. the boy loved his Hulk hands, and the girl hasn’t [...]

A busy pre-Christmas with the kids

So not to much time on line for mummy.
We’ve made our first batch of gingerbread men, which all got eaten in five minutes flat by mine and the neighbours kids. I’ll do some more biscuits for the tree tomorrow with the boiled sweet ‘glass’ in them. After that it’s they playdoh nativity. This is a [...]

Been ill again; and I can’t believe Wole won Last Man Standing.

And so not blogging. I don’t foresee much blog activity over the Christmas period. At least it was just some bug and not the MS taking a turn for the nasty. My bigger blog entries will have to wait for a week or so before I get around to them. Bleh.
And on a downer, Wole [...]

Crappy Saturday.

Posted on December 13, 2008. Filed under: diary entry | Tags: , |

I’m having agonizing cramps and the bloody builder didn’t turn up to fit the fireplace. It’s also howling a gale outside. What a miserable day.
On a brighter note, my weird world blog seems to have picked up. Really I only use it as a store for the odd facts that take my fancy and to debunk [...]

Found a nice site on North African history with mosaics.

Here.
I’m scouting around for a continuous image progression from the rock Art into the Islamic era. Here’s the early version, I’ll put the finished product in MAB.
The oldest, a ’roundhead’ art style, and probably the oldest.

Rock art from Uan Amil, the hair washing scene.

From Uan Fathi

The Tassili ladies

This guy is my ‘Roman era’  North African [...]

Boy, blogging, The Moors.

He had a fever for five days total. I asked around, and quite a few of the other kids have been the same. I knew he was alright this morning when he woke up and started playing with his sister. I could probably have sent him to nursery, but I’d rather let him recover a bit [...]

Not been on line much.

The boy has had a temperature for four days now. Not a very high one. He’s got my nasty cold, and it’s affected him worse. Hseems a bit better today, but he’s still warm. I’m taking him to the doctor later.
Both of us being ill has really put a dent in the amount of time [...]

Number 14 out of 100

Posted on December 6, 2008. Filed under: diary entry | Tags: |

I made number 14 out of 100 anthropology sites  on line. Not bad, considering I’ve been only been at this 11 months. I was only just below John Hawks, and four below Dienekes, whom I both shamelessly exploit as sources of information. I’m close to 140,000 hits now, the average daily is about 1,300, with a [...]
